Jones Bach Summer School 2025 is made possible with funding from the The Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity.

Previous Jones Bach activities have been supported by Arts Council of Wales, The Hafren and Gregynog Hall.

Join this year’s summer school at Gregynog Hall

Two age groups: 7 - 11 & 11/12+

Monday 4th to Friday 8th August 2025

Join other young local aspiring dancers and those who just want to be creative, dance and perform, to make a brand new show, with Gwyn (Artistic Director) and Eli (Dance Officer).

This is new work will be inspired by the incredible art works of artists such as Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet that were left to the people of Wales by two local sisters, Gwendoline and Margaret Davies.

They were the granddaughters of David Davies of Llandinam, a self-made man whose fortune was derived from coal-owning, railways and the docks. They were major benefactors of charities and cultural institutions in Wales and in 1920 bought Gregynog Hall, which became a centre of artistic creativity.

This will be the first work by Gwyn for Jones Bach since 2019 and we can’t wait for you to join us for a week of dancing and fun.

The history of Jones Bach

JONES BACH - the dance workshops for young people in and around Newtown have been going for as long as Jones the Dance (which was formerly known as Gwyn Emberton Dance).

Since 2014, JtD has run its annual summer dance programme for young people from 7 to 18 years of age, in Newtown, mid Wales, with The Hafren and for a few years with Ballet Cymru. We have had teachers from all over the world such as Sweden, Italy and Spain teach on the summer schools with participants being local and also coming from as far as Cardiff, Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth.
